Christian, 8 years old, often comes to my bedside at night and asks if I would like him to pray for me. He lays his hand upon my forehead and sweetly admonishes the Lord on my behalf. He prays for the Lord to bless me, to heal me of the pain I have been having, to help me sleep.

I am always touched by the faith he demonstrates in these prayers. They are powerful because they are filled with faith and love. Why should this surprise me? Jesus tells us to have faith like a child. Lord, please help me to remember to deal reverently with the tender faith of these children with whom you have entrusted me. Help me to learn from them. Let nothing I do hinder them from coming to you.
